What is latch hooking?
Latch hooking is a simple, repetitive motion craft that involves using a latch hook (similar looking to a crochet hook), a mesh canvas, and small lengths of fibre. You can create all kinds of designs—functional and beautiful—like wall hangings, rugs, and cushion covers.
The effect of pulling the short fibres through the mesh canvas creates a shaggy look, which can ultimately be trimmed to your desired length.
The ethos of latch hooking club
Over years of running pacie grews, I've worked hard to maintain close-to-zero-waste efforts. Part of this journey has involved saving every scrap of fibres, every single offcut from each project, and keeping them to be used for other purposes.
When fibres get too small to knot, what is there to do? Enter latch hooking, stage right.
Latch hooking allows us to use some of the smallest fibres to create cool, functional, and fun pieces of art. Not only are these workshops a space for you to learn a new craft and make an awesome work of art for your home, they're also a container for us to think creatively about materials that too often get deemed as 'waste'.
Latch hooking club: practical details
Latch Hooking Club is a regular series of workshops in CoreCreative, Bantry.
During your first class, you'll be given your own mesh canvas, which will serve as the basis of your project. You'll also receive beginner-level instruction on the fundamental techniques of latch hooking, which you will then have the scope to independently practice and master over time.
In each club session, you'll gain access to all of the other materials you'll need: scissors, latch hooks, and of course, tons of colourful fibre.

As spaces are limited, we appreciate your understanding that last minute cancellations are non refundable or transferable. You may transfer your booking to another date if you let us know up to 72 hours in advance of the class. After that, your booking is non-transferable and you will need to book again next time.
